The last 15 months has witnessed a dramtic surge in the topic of law firm pricing: more events, more stories, more jobs. The events (see my EVENTS page) and stories (see my ARTICLES page) are fairly easy to identify. The jobs, however, are a bit more elusive, as pricing professionals have been a rather exclusive club. With Venable publicly seeking a Director of Pricing, it made me think it was time to shine a light on this march to a bona fide career field. I am the Chief Value Partner at Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP in Detroit. I also have an Associate Chief Value Partner, Joe Sgroi. While our job descriptions are much broader than pricing, that is certainly a significant aspect of what we do.
We are heavily involved in alternative fee matters, fee estimates, billing rate decisions and so forth. We are also engaged in LPM efforts, process improvement and other matters.
